Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) is the only flagship in engineering and IT science and education in Estonia, providing higher education at all levels in engineering and technology, information technology, economics, science, and maritime.
TalTech’s mission is to promote science, technology, and innovation, and to serve as a leading provider of engineering and economic education in Estonia. Located in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, TalTech enjoys a scenic setting in the Mustamäe district. It is the only campus-type university in the Baltic countries and one of the most compact university campuses in Europe.

Founded in 1918, TalTech has approx. 9100 students (9% are international), making it the largest and one of the most international universities in the capital.
It ranks among the top 3% of universities globally (QS World University Rankings) and is in the top 2% in fields such as Engineering, Technology, and Business Administration. As a member of the EuroTeQ network, TalTech enables students to access courses from other top-ranked technological universities across Europe.
Microgrids and Metrology Research Group
The Microgrids and Metrology Research Group is part of the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics (established in 2017), and includes the Laboratory of Lighting Technology.
Their work includes the research and development of power supply systems and smart grids for industry and service sectors and households aimed at improving the efficiency, reliability and flexibility of electrical installations.
The working group is also characterized by high-level knowledge about electrical, automation and lighting installations.
